【艾克哈特.托利】《自我的幻象》

“我”這個詞彙體現出了最大的錯誤和最深刻的真相,依賴如何去看待它。
以常規的使用來說,它不僅僅只是在語言中最經常運用的一個詞彙(合在一起的相關詞彙還有:“我的賓格”,“我的”“我的東西”和“我自己”)但也是最容導入誤解的一個詞彙。在每天通常的使用​​中,“我”體現出的是最初的錯誤,一份“你是誰”的錯覺知曉,一種被鑑別的幻象感受。這便是小我。


The word “I” embodies the greatest error and thedeepest truth, depending on how it is used. In conventional usage,it is not only one of the most frequently used words in thelanguage (together with the related words: “me,” “my ,” “mine,” and“myself ”) but also one of the most misleading. In normal everydayusage, “I” embodies the primordial error, a misperception of whoyou are, an illusory sense of identity. This is the ego.

This illusory sense of self is what Albert Einstein, whohad deep insights not only into the reality of space and time butalso into human nature, referred to as “an optical illusion ofconsciousness.” That illusory self then becomes the basis forall further interpretations, or rathermisinterpretations of reality, all thought processes, interactions,and relationships. Your reality becomes a reflection of theoriginal illusion.

The good news is: If you can recognize illusion asillusion, it dissolves. The recognition of illusion is also itsending. Its survival depends on your mistaking it for reality. Inthe seeing of who you are not, the reality of who you are emergesby itself. This is what happens as you slowly and carefully readthis and the next chapter, which are about the mechanics of thefalse self we call the ego.

Most people are still completely identified with theincessant stream of mind, of compulsive thinking, most of itrepetitive and pointless. There is no “I” apart from their thoughtprocesses and the emotions that go with them. This is the meaningof being spiritually unconscious. When told that there is a voicein their head that never stops speaking, they say, “What voice?” orangrily deny it, which of course is the voice, is the thinker, isthe unobserved mind. It could almost be looked upon as an entitythat has taken possession of them.


一些人永遠不會忘記,首次他們從自身的想法中“非鑑別或認定”所衍生出的感受,並因此單純的經驗這種身份的轉變---從他們頭腦中的內容趨向了其背景畫面中的覺察。而對其他人來說這樣的發生是如此的精微與輕妙而使得他們難以注意,或是他們僅僅注意到喜悅或是沒有任何原因的內在平和的情感匯流。

Some people never forget the first time theydisidentified from their thoughts and thus briefly experienced theshift in identity from being the content of their mind to being theawareness in the background. For others it happens in such a subtleway they hardly notice it, or they just notice an influx of joy orinner peace without knowing the reason
